Blue Isbar Chickens

Isbar Chickens (pronounced “Ice Bar”) are one of the many chicken breeds created by a Catholic Monk named Martin Silverudd. He is believed to have crossed the Rhode Island Red, New Hampshire and the sex link Cream Legbar chicken breeds to create the Isbar Chicken. The Isbar is a cold-hardy medium sized breed which produces around 200 eggs per year. The eggs are shades of solid mint/moss green and can be with or without spots. Our Isbar hens are consistently out laying every other breed on the farm right through the cold winter. Isbars come in three colors blue, black, and splash. Since Isbar chickens do not breed true to their color, you will get different colors based upon the parents color. So for breeding purposes you truly want a mix of all 3 colors in your flock. That is what we have here at Omega Hills Farm. Our isbar chicks will come in all three colors. Our Isbar eggs are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get.

Here is the general rule when breeding blue/black/splash
Blue x Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black, 25% Splash
Blue x Splash = 50% Blue, 50% Splash
Blue x Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black
Black x Splash = 100% Blue
Black x Black = 100% Black
Splash x Splash = 100% Splash
